Enriched Opportunities for "Building Background" for Penn Students
On October 1st - Kindergarten through 3rd grade students will have the opportunity to learn about germs and health on the "Lysol bus" coming to our school!
Also in October, Kindergarten through 3rd grades will learn about health & nutrition through classes that will come to our school.
Look for schedules by email.
Penn Cafeteria
- Lunch cards will now be in your breakfast tubs in a little box. Please note students who are absent by placing their cards in a rubber band and returning all cards back in the box. Return the lunch card box with your breakfast bin each morning. This should help teachers to focus on students in the lines instead of cards.
- You have probably noticed signs of the cafeteria doors. Please keep them closed at all times so that students are calmer in the hallways during passing.
We are looking for your feedback on what works best for teachers to help the line move quickly. The choices are:
- Ask students their choice in the morning and turn in the number of entrees in to the cafeteria in the morning. Then line your students up according to choice before coming to the cafeteria. This prevents the wait time of student stalling when deciding.
- Label the entrees in the cafeteria "choice 1" and "choice 2". The students make choices by holding up one or two fingers in line. Sometimes the ladies serving cannot hear and it hold up the line.
You may also have ideas that were not mentioned. You will have an opportunity to provide feedback this week. When you are in the cafeteria this week, please take the time to complete the anonymous survey located near the cashier and return it to the box by Thursday. Ms, Sandra and I will meet again to determine next steps.
Thank you,
Reminder!
Professional Learning Leadership Team (District leadership opportunity)
If you are interested in representing our school, please let me know by Wednesday.
Elementary: One representative from PK – 2, one representative from Gr 3 – 6, and one representative from specials/non-classroom (counselors, media specialists, etc.). This will be a total of at least three representatives on the elementary site PLLT. The first meeting will be in October. Last year's representatives were Julia Carian, Teresa Johnson and Lorraine Walker. They can answer questions that you might have about this opportunity.Child Abuse Policy and Reporting Laws
Each year, all educators are required to participate in training around child abuse policy and reporting laws. TPS is providing this in an online format through Edivate. In this brief course, you will review the laws and policies and the educator's role in reporting child abuse. Following each video, you will be required to answer a few questions highlighting important information presented in the video. In addition, a link is provided to childwelfare.gov, and you will be provided a copy of the TPS policy on child abuse. By completing this online professional learning opportunity, you will fulfill district and state requirements, and you can do so on your own time from any computer with an internet connection. Please access instructions, course FAQs, and support information for completing the course. This course takes approximately one hour. Please have the course completed by the end of the first quarter, October 19.
