What is SIDS??
i think you need to know!!!
Did you know there was a such thing as SUDDEN INFANT DEATH SYNDROME?
SIDS is the sudden death of an infant between 1 month and 12 months. SIDS is more often seen in children that come from younger mothers or mothers that smoke or drink and mothers that has poor prenatal care. The death is more seen in infants between 2-4 months of age. SIDS is twice as likely to occur in African-american babies and Native-american babies three times as likely. SIDS takes the lives of about 2500 babies in the US each year.
Is there a way to prevent this?
There is not really a way for this to stop happening but there is ways you can reduce the risk. Lying a baby on their back to sleep to make sure they can breathe, they should never sleep on their stomachs or sides. Don't leave blankets or animals or anything else in their cribs while they sleep that could suffocate them. Swaddling your baby can also help, and use a pacifier while they are sleep.
