Nutrition is essential to healthy living.The food pyramid, or My Pyramid,splits the food groups into 5 sections.Grains give you carbohydrates,vitamins, minerals,and fiber.Vegetables,fruits,milk, and meat and beans are the other food groups.They provide vitamins,minerals,carbs,fiber,fats, and calcium.Oils and fats should be eaten in limited amounts because they are not a food group.

Food-Borne Ilnesses
A food borne illness is an illness caused by eating or drinking a food something that contains pathogens. Pathogens are germs that cause disease.Pathogens enter food when they are being prepared,stored, or served at home.You can prevent food-borne illnesses by preparing raw meats and other foods on different cutting boards and washing your hands often.
Body Mass index
Your body mass index,or B.M.I.,is a formula used to compare your weight to your height.Using this information,doctors can use your B.M.I. to see if you are over or under weight.Underweight means you weigh less than your healthful weight.To prevent being underweight you can take in more calories than you use.Overweight is taking in more calories than your body needs.To lose weight, you need to use more calories than you take in.You should always have a medical check-up before you decide to lose or gain weight.
