Writing
During the last weeks of school we will be reviewing what we have learned about writing throughout 2nd grade! We will review bold beginnings, meaty middles, and exciting endings. We will also review the importance of adding details/WOW words, punctuation, and more. I will be assessing the students after this week and I cannot wait to see how far they have come! I am so proud of their growth!
Reading
We will continue with our unit in reading over Determining Important Ideas. We will explore important ideas in expository nonfiction and fiction texts. We will use inferencing to help us think about what is important in the text. This week we will read the book Big Al!
Math
We will continue our chapter over Geometric shapes and equal shares. We will be doing lots of hands on activities with 3D shapes and geoboards!
Social Studies
I hope your child told you about all the fun experiments we did while learning about mixtures and solutions! This week, we will begin our new unit over Native Americans!
Homework
Homework- NO MATH HOMEWORK THIS WEEK!
Comprehension Homework-No more comprehension packets for this year! Please read with your child as you have time! NO MORE READING LOGS!
Field Day Help!
Field Day at Harrison Elementary will be on Wednesday May 18th. The students at Harrison would love to see you at field day. Mrs. Brummel looking for parent volunteers to work the 20- 25 different stations this year. Session # 1 - K-1st and Session # 2- 2nd-4th.
She needs at least one volunteer at each station for both sessions to make Field Day successful and safe for all of our Huskies! Please go to the following link to sign up if you can help! THANKS!
SWATT Students with awesomely timed tests
I am so proud of all the growth we've had this year with our Math Fact Fluency. Mastery of quick recall facts will greatly aid students in being successful with other math concepts. We will continue working on this throughout the end of the year. We will be having our End of the Year SWATT Celebration on May 16th. Students earn prizes/goodies for each level of mastery they are able to complete. There will be prizes for improvement, mastering addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Make sure to ask your child what operation they are currently working on.
