SETTING UP CANVAS: link provides steps on how to set up a parent account on Canvas


Please be sure to encourage your child to advocate for his- or her- self at school, as this will prepare them for high school.


Students choosing to take the accommodated health test will be taking it in three parts again. Normally students take it as one final unit test, we are breaking it down by chapter. Study Guide part 2& 3 are attached, students will need to complete part 2 before break, and can choose to also complete part 3 so they don't forget the information over break. Health classes are taking all three parts-unit test- before break. Students taking the unit test should study all three study guides below to prepare.

ILA Classes


Stems: Students can practice on cram.com, Quizlet.com, or studystack.com by searching wwtw.


Read 180: Students will compete in Battle of the Books on Tuesday. On Wednesday, students will work on theme and book reviews. Continue to study for stems and read 20 minutes each night.


Story: Students will complete the historical fiction CUA on Monday.


Glassman: Students will work on writing strategies this week.


System 44:


  • Students will be using an online interactive storyboard app to write their Fables this week!

  • WE ARE IN NEED OF SOME DONATIONS FOR OUR GARDEN! We've grown so big that we would greatly appreciate any donations of potting soil and pots :)

Math

Lawson:


Pythagorean Theorem work all week.


Ihlenfeldt:

8th grade math will be working on the Pythagorean Theorem next week. We will quiz on the first three sections of chapter 7 on Wednesday.


In Algebra we will begin chapter 8. We will graph several kinds of quadratic functions in the first few sections of the chapter.


Laufer:

Continue square roots, move on to cube roots. Start to approximate non-perfect squares. Begin Pythagorean Theorem!


For math tests and quizzes students should prepare by:

1. Check Skyward. Are all assignments in and passing?

2. Practice tests and quizzes from each section in the book.

3. Review pages at the end of the chapter in the book

Sternig:

All students have access to IXL to practice their math skills. Each class has different skill sets and skill levels to be working towards improvement. See link below.



1st Hour: Review and complete chapter test on multiplying decimals. Study guide is page 195-197 in Garfield book.


3rd Hour: Graphing rational numbers and comparing distances between them with a quiz 3.7-3.9.


9th Hour: Continue adding and subtracting fractions with fraction strips. Quick Quiz on Monday and on Thursday (2 questions each).

PLTW Science


Mr. D.- Final labs and packets.


Mr.Peacy:

Test on Wednesday. Finishing Rue Goldberg projects in groups.


Mrs. Miller's:

Unit test on Wednesday.

Social Studies- U.S. History


Mrs. Paulson:

There will be a Chapter 11 Test Tuesday. If your student will be out that day, they will need to take the test by Wednesday as the end of the quarter is on 3/23.
