School's In For Summer :)
Miss. Smith's Summer School Class!
WEEK ONE WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD!
This week held some very exciting/ messy projects and we loved every bit of it! Students started the week off by making tin foil moon rocks that were grouped in groups of ten for a math activity. They also made space martians out place value block, which turned out amazing! We were able to research and discuss our solar system. After our research, the kids were able to pick their favorite planet and paint it. We conducted a surface tension activity that involved water and paper clips. We talked about what they were seeing while conducting the experiment and the answers they gave were amazing! Believe it or not, we also have also defied gravity! We made spaceships as a team and painted spaceships of our own. We even watched a space shuttle being launched. Not only did we make tin foil moon rocks, but each student made their own personal moon rock out of baking soda and water! Those will be coming home Monday. I hope you are hearing great things and maybe they can even show you how to do some of the things we have learned throughout our time together so far! :)
