Why art therapy? Art therapy can be used to relieve stress, tension, or anxiety. It can be used as a mode of self-discovery. It can be used as a creative outlet to become "unstuck". It is a creative expression when words fail.

Put creativity time on the calendar. Opportunities to be creative can be healing and inspirational. Being in that creativity flow can be freeing. It can open us up to ideas, allow for self-expression, and allow us to "connect the dots." This connection can provide us a deeper understanding of our own stories, as well as invite a connection with various people across the spectrum.

Do I need to be an artist?

Absolutely not! The goal of art therapy is not to create a masterpiece. Rather, it is a coping skill that allows you to explore a different way of expressing yourself. The goal is to gain insight, meaning, and provide interpretation to your inner experiences.
