Seasonal Writing

Students have been busy working of a special winter narrative. We have been exploring a variety of mentor texts and reviewing and learning the many different kinds of author's crafts and figurative language. After I read aloud the original story of Rudolph, from 1939, we found many similies together. "The fog was as thick as a soda's white fizz." Students have begun finding author's craft in their own "just right books". We say that they are "reading like writers". We put some seasonal simiies out to decorate. Student samples are below.

Planetary Presentations-Reasearch

Students took all of their magnificent planet research ("Research Road-Maps" came home on Wednesday as a sign and return) and made presentations. Some students were very interested in learning how to do Google Slides. Others created posters, a few made solar system models and several did additional research.

Soon, we will be launching a new research project as students begin to explore our Social Studies essential question: What people lived on the plains? Students will be assigned a group, and an area that they research for their tribe (food/water. habitat, . I have shared a group slide template with each different group. Only these team members will be able to work on their Google Slide-show, and each member will create their own individual slide--and contribute to the final project.
