One key notion here is 'flipped' learning of course, whereby the presentation can be used beyond the classroom walls. This can be done in many ways but the key to it is that it focus attention on the theme, theory, core ideas, key skills so that the foundation is set for deeper, individualised and focussed study in face to face sessions.
These tools all lend themselves to student use too. The so called connected teacher may not need to be all that connected if s/he gets her/his students to use the tools for reporting on research, collaborative tasks, problem solving, presenting work, summarising themes and ideas presented in class and so on.
When you think about presentations try not to limit yourself to thinking about visuals. An audio recording or radio show style podcast can actually be more convenient (and therefore listened to more often) for a lot of students.
