Sharing

The need to share

Just recently, my husband and I have learned the importance of teaching children to share. Our three year old son, who you will definitely hear more about, has a way of making sure that everyone in the house knows exactly what's theirs and that he marks his territory. He walks around asking "is that yours or mine?" on a daily basis. He makes sure that you know the difference in things that are yours and things that are his by often saying "that's not yours." I find myself saying "can't we share?" more than anything else.

As I was thinking about a topic for this newsletter of 2016, I began thinking about these conversations. Just like my son, teachers have a difficult time sharing. We often hoard our things so that others can't use them. We hoard information so that others won't be able to get it. We are all guilty of this, it comes with the territory. However we feel about it sharing is important for our students. It provides educators the opportunity to make children great.

Blogging is a wonderful way to share information. I have learned so much from the blogs that I participate in. I challenge each of you to share something with a colleague this week.
