Dear OUSD Community,
As the school year comes to a close, we are excited to share that we have partnered with Santiago Canyon College to make their "College for Kids Summer Program" available for all Orange Unified students. This incredible opportunity will accelerate progress to close learning gaps and provide students in grades K-12 with access to rigorous, fun, interactive, and engaging enrichment opportunities AT NO COST TO YOU.
Space is limited, therefore, priority will be given to students who are not already enrolled in an Orange Unified summer program. Those students who are in an Orange Unified summer program may participate if space is available.
Classes will be offered in four different formats to meet our students' learning needs:
- REMOTE LIVE- Students will use an online platform to meet instead of a classroom. Your class will be held at a set class time where you will meet with your teacher and classmates.
- ONLINE- This class is 100% online and there is not a set class time. You take part in learning activities on an online learning platform. You communicate with your instructor through online discussions, video recordings, and class activities.
- IN PERSON- This type of class takes place in person. Participants are required to wear face covering and practice social distancing.
- REMOTE BLENDED 2 (ONLINE + IN PERSON)- Part of this class is completed online and will meet for scheduled hands-on training.
Please carefully read the class description, schedule, and location in pages 8-18 of the online brochure. You can then determine the class format you prefer for your student and register using the class name and event number. Students must be registered at least one day prior to the start of the class to participate. Once the student in registered, Santiago Canyon College will confirm student registration via a phone call, email, and/or letter.

Outstanding arts educators honored at annual OCMAA awards ceremony
More than two dozen teachers and administrators who oversee instrumental, vocal, theater, dance and visual arts programs were honored at the Orange County Music and Arts Administrators (OCMAA) Awards.
Congratulations to Elementary Visual Arts Teacher Suzanne Fowler and Villa Park High School Media Arts Teacher Albert Yap on their recognitions for making a difference in the lives of Orange County students through arts education.
Founded by OCDE, the Orange County Music and Arts Administrators is an active coalition of school districts, community arts organizations, parents and business leaders who work collaboratively to ensure a high quality inclusive, accessible, and equitable arts education for every child.
Graduation Update
High school graduation ceremonies will take place on June 9 and 10 at Fred Kelly Stadium. Each graduate will be allowed four attendees, and tickets indicate the assigned seating area for each family. In addition, the event will be live-streamed for public viewing.
Following current public health guidance, all attendees must wear masks as per CDPH Face Coverings Guidance and maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from other attendees at all times, other than with household members such as when they are in their own vehicles. Attendance must be limited to school staff, graduates, household members, and family members. Attendees must abide by travel limitations as indicated within the current CDPH Travel Advisory. Persons who are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19 (e.g., due to age or underlying conditions) should be discouraged from attending. Individuals who are sick or in isolation or quarantine must remain at home.
Elementary and middle school promotion details will be shared with families by their children’s school site leaders.
