A glimpse at the good stuff happening in our schools!
A Message from Superintendent Mauney
Staff, students and families,
Thank you all so much for the focus and push you have maintained throughout the 3rd quarter. Many folks feel that the third quarter is the toughest stretch of the year with colder weather and shorter days; however, the good news is that NOW it is time to take a break and recharge. I hope that you will take time this week to do something just for you. I know that just because we have time off from work and school, it does not mean that we are able to get completely away from our responsibilities. But, I hope it will allow you a few more hours in a day to find time to rest, relax, and enjoy those things you may not always have the time to enjoy.
If you are traveling, be safe. If you are having a "stay-cation" here in Mo'town or the surrounding area like the Mauneys, enjoy yourself. But most of all, have a Merry Spring Break!
All my best,
Stephen A. Mauney
Superintendent

RRES will make you feel like DANCING!
This past week at Rocky River Elementary School, the second grade presented their annual Dance Around the World program for friends and families. Students shared cultural information about their dances, wore costumes, and even combined for a Spontaneous Dance Party which featured 15 signature dance moves in two minute! It was a tremendous amount of fun and entertainment!

MIS is Unmasking Superheroes by Reading!
On March 27, Mooresville Intermediate School hosted a Family Reading Night to kick off our school-wide “Unmask Your Superhero” Read-a-Thon fundraiser. It was a great time to get together to celebrate READING! So far this week, MIS students have read over 25,000 minutes! To learn more about the Read-a-thon and to access our school’s Read-a-Thon page, click here.

You can learn about QUINOA at MHS?!?
This week at Mooresville High School, students in Mrs. Cook's Foods I Class did a lab to learn about grains. They experimented with rice, quinoa, and other grains. The Foods classes are always the best lessons to observe because they come with a snack!

MHS Capstone Project Judges Needed
Are you interested in being a judge for our Seniors' capstone projects? They will be held on Wednesday, May 16 from 3pm to 5pm. It is because of our volunteer judges that this project is so successful! There is a link below that provides additional information regarding judging. If you are able to serve on one of our panels, please email mhscapstoneproject@mgsd.k12.nc.us. You will receive emails with more detailed information as we get closer to Presentation day. On behalf of our Seniors, thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to participate!
