Have A Great Summer
Last Day Of School May 23,2023
What a great school year that was set upon us. We would like to thank the students for showing up everyday and coming with the eagerness to learn and grow. Thank you to all the parents who get them here everyday with the tools they need to thrive. There is no place like the Career Center Campus and we want to wish you a fun, safe, memorable, happy summer break! We will see you in August! Lets get our "SUMMER" on!
End of the Year Celebrations
Companion Animal Care
The CAC program has done exceptional this year. They have created partnerships with animal facilities all over the Western Slope. The students have worked hands on at Roice-Hurst learning about our furry friends and how important it is to have such amazing facilities that help our friends with vet care, medical needs, and finding them a home where they can live their best lives. The students on their last fund raiser raised over $70 for Roice-Hurst and also helped fill their pet pantry! On their academic side students just completed the Veterinary Receptionist Certificate with a 90% pass rate. This certification will help them in their career path in the Veterinary setting. The classroom is always busy whether it is making our pooch friends look their very best or fostering tiny kittens, loving them, rehabilitation, medical needs, around the clock care, and finding them forever homes. Truly Rockstars! To close out the year the students went on a field trip to the Dog Agility Show at the fairgrounds and seen some amazing talented dogs. What a great year of learning and growing! The CAC program would like to congratulate all of our seniors and wish them the best of luck!
Compact Engines
Busy year in CE! This year they restored 12 bicycles to donate to he House at Christmas time and made some very appreciative students happy. They restored 16 lawn equipment units and sold to the community, every penny they earn goes back into the program to continue teaching students how to diagnosis, problem solve, and the feeling of triumph when they saved a piece of machinery going into the landfill. We also would like to thank the community for supporting our program with donations, without them we can't do what we do! The CE program recycles every part that can be reused and what they can't use, they take to the steel factory and recycle. Where this year they recycled more than 2200 lbs. of metal! Great Job! On their academics side the earned 18 Master Service Technicians Certifications and received 12 brand new Kohler 6.5hp engines to continue their growth!
Congratulations to Jonathan Varvar and Julian Hallenbeck-Ross for completion of the MST Certification Course!
Construction Technology
The CT program has some exciting news... they have just finished building their 14th house! It is completely finished and will be put on the market this summer to be sold to the public! The house is beautiful needless to say, you can see an exceptional eye of detail in every square foot of the house!
This year they had 18 students who have completed the NCCER Certification training. This certification is industry standard and will help our students who pursue their career paths in the building industry. Welding was introduced this year and companies such as Rock Vine Ranch and MCRPTO gave our students the opportunity for real hands-on experience in the Welding industry. We thank the community for such great partnerships, we can't do this without you! The students also were busy building chicken coops, dog houses (that were donated to Roice-Hurst and Harmony Acres), garden boxes, birdhouses, and their own unique projects. We really are a special place here at Career Center Campus creating future builders of America.
Health Science
The HS program would like to celebrate all the certificates earned this year in the program. We had 5 students complete the NCHSE Certificate, 6 Medical Terminology Certificates, and 6 CNA Certificates! WOW! This year was a big one, as the program received an Anatomage Table, where the students will be able to learn significantly from this piece of technology!
We also have three students (Jasmine Erwin, Alison Busheri, and Maren Kowalczyk) who will be going to Texas June 21-25 to compete in HOSA! Thank you to all the generosity of the community donating to help get our students there! They will be competing in the categories Interview Skills and Community Awareness. We wish them the best of luck!
Culinary Arts
The CA program had huge news this year! In January of 2023, D51 Career Center's Culinary Arts program became the first high school program in Colorado to be honored with accreditation by the American Culinary Federation. The curriculum was examined and the program facility was inspected, previous students were interviewed and local industry professionals were consulted before the accreditation was granted. Students at Career Center may now take a certification test at the fundamental culinarian level that will help them in the workforce or college.
Another exceptional year, with 7 students completing the ServSafe Certification with our newest student (Madison Janda) being added to list. Way to go Madison! We again would like to thank the community for all their continued support of our students, Fresh Side Café, and our overall program!
Horticulture
Grow Grow Grow! The HT program had for the first time ever, had four students complete the BASF Plant Science Certificate. Congratulations to Daniel Mosher, Maxen Smith, Bridgette Cahill, and Lucas Hutchins! They continue to grow the program and once again partnering with our community. Valentines day was a success, Mothers Day even bigger! The students work hard making arrangements, learning the discipline of running a business, all the while growing plants, vegetables, flowers and maintaining a greenhouse. They crossed over programs and merged with our Construction Technology program and sold birdhouses, garden boxes built by students at the Arbor Day sale. Horticulture is one of our most popular programs here at Career Center Campus!
Early Childcare
As another school year comes to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and yours all of the very best for the summer. May it be a safe, healthy and happy one and whatever your plans are, may they be most enjoyable!
We are all very proud of our Early Childhood Program students and would like to congratulate them on completing a successful school year. You can be very proud of them and how they represent you, their families and their school on a daily basis.
We would like to wish those who are leaving us all the very best in future endeavors. We hope that you will look back fondly on your time at the Career Center. Have a wonderful and safe summer and we look forward to seeing you in the fall!
Valley Prep
As with the year winding down we would like to highlight the academics side of Valley. The students continued to stay focused and motivated to finish the year strong receiving their credits. They have had a busy year, whether it is putting on their monthly meetings, holding school-wide events, going on different job shadowing events, or finding adventure in the river watch, learning the science of nature!
