Giving back

I'm so impressed by the kindness and generosity of our students. One shining example is Project Linus. This was spearheaded by two of our 7th graders, Avery and Lucy, and the pictures below show a part of their success. With a modest goal of collecting $250, the school blew that away by donating over $1300. Check out the pictures below. I am one #proudprincipal!

Spring Book Fair is May 31st-June 6th

In preparation for summer reading, there will be a Spring Book Fair from May 31st until June 6th. This will take place in the Intermediate School library. We're in need of some volunteers during the school day as well as one evening (June 2nd, our concert night). Please use the link below to sign up for volunteer spots.

Community Garden

Some of you may remember our Community Garden from last year. Well, after listening to the weather forecasts, it seems like we may be able to plant right after the Memorial Day weekend. That means we'll start getting to work on Tuesday, May 31st.

Here is our schedule-

Tuesday, May 31st after school is garden prep

Wednesday, June 1st after school is more garden prep

Thursday, June 2nd after school is for planting

There are a host of interested students and staff who are ready to prepare the garden for planting, but we could use some help. If you know of anyone with a good sized rototiller, we could really use it to get the soil ready. We are also looking for donations of plants (tomatoes, onions, beans, squash, or other edible vegetables) to grow for three purposes- for use in our school lunches next year, for use in cooking with some of our students next year, and to donate to local food pantries next year. If you can help us out in any way, please contact me via email (posickj@merton.k12.wi.us). Thanks!

Celebration Day is next Friday, June 3rd!

New this year are off site activities for the Intermediate School students. You will be seeing a permission slip either today or next week for the activity that your child has signed up for. We are in need of some parent volunteers to help chaperone these activities with our staff. We could really use your help at Adventure Rock and Swingtime. Please use the link below to sign up for these chaperone spots.

Memorial Day Weekend

I hope that you all enjoy your Memorial Day weekend. I'll be sharing mine with family and friends, but in the back of my mind will be the military personnel we so often forget to acknowledge. If you are able, shake the hand of a former or current person from the military, look them in the eye, and thank them for their service.
