Falcon Family Nest
Working together to help our falcons SOAR!
Message from the Principals
We are so happy to be approaching 100 days of learning in WASD with options for all of our families! Most of our Falcons are learning from within the Nest, but we have many taking advantage of our hybrid/ virtual options as well. We want to take a few minutes to thank all of you for everything you are doing to ensure we are able to continue offering options, including face to face learning.
- Thank you for keeping your learners home when they are sick and exhibiting symptoms. This protocol helps us monitor the health of our learners and staff.
- Thank you for notifying us of exposures within the home and community. Your partnership in this protocol helps to ensure we are not risking spread within our schools.
- Thank you for understanding when our nurses or administrators ask you to pick up your child and/ or keep them home for periods of time. Your patience and understanding helps us work together for the health and safety of your child and that of others in the school.
- Thank you for donating time, resources, and ideas to support our learners and maintain some of the "fun" of school. Your partnership and those of the community have allowed us to hold classroom parties (albeit a little differently), maintain recess play (with new protocols for safety and donations for supplies), and learn inside and outside (with new picnic tables donated by many community partners).
- Finally, thank you for supporting your child while they are learning at home during Remote Learning Days, extended absences due to illness or quarantine, and hybrid learning AND just the homework of face to face instruction. Your partnership in learning at home helps us to maintain learning anytime, anywhere and keep our Falcons growing.
Enjoy the Frosty February!
Mrs. Megan McGuire

Family Resources for Positive Change
Check out this article on Kids Post (part of The Washington Post) about Kid Activists and how they are changing the world. What does this inspire your child or family to do to make a positive change?
Mrs. McGuire's Monthly Challenge
January is the time for New Years Resolutions and attempts to make positive changes in our lives. Unfortunately, as adults we tend to set lofty, unreasonable goals and then get frustrated or even give up when we can't achieve them quickly. Help your child avoid that habit and instead set a small, attainable goal. What is a positive change they (or you as a family) can reach in the next 2-3 weeks? This small success will breed more small successes and eventually the small change will yield a BIG positive change!
Write down some ideas or record a short video clip and email them to FVFalconPride@wasdpa.org We will share some of the responses on our monitors in the school and on our social media pages!
