Overview
Discus is is Track and Field event that is part of the Summer Olympics. Discus is sport that similar to playing with a frisbee. The only difference is that disc would be heavier and the way you would throw it. In discus the competitors throw a disc farther than their competitors to win. The weight of the disc mainly depends on the height and gender of the person (Men= 1-2 Kg and women= 1-0.75Kg).
History
Discus is an ancient sport that dates back to the 708 BC, made by the ancient Greeks. As time moved along this sport had been forgotten, until it was re-discovered by Christian kohlrausch and his students in the 1870s. Discus was introduced in the first Olympics in 1896, but it was only for men. Then in 1928 women were allowed to participate in discus.
