OCS WEEKLY UPDATE
November 6th, 2023
Last Friday, we had an afternoon of excitement with 2 meaningful presentations!
Dear Families,
We hope this message finds you well. We are excited to share a wonderful recent experience we had here at Otisfield Community School, and we would like to introduce you to a former OCS student, Stephanie Mulligan, and her husband, Matthew Mulligan.
Stephanie and Matthew co-wrote a remarkable book titled "Just a Kid From Maine," a captivating story that resonates with our students. Matthew, the star of this book, is a true Mainer who pursued his dream of playing in the NFL with relentless dedication and hard work.
Stephanie and Matthew visited our school to share their inspiring story with our students. Matthew not only read excerpts from their book, but he also delivered an interactive and motivational speech that left our students fully engaged and motivated. It was truly impressive to witness the level of enthusiasm and participation from our students.
We are delighted to share that their presentation seamlessly integrated with our school's RIPPLE behavior expectations, emphasizing the importance of your attitude and effort and how it impacts those around you.
In addition to their engaging presentation, Stephanie showed her deep connection to Otisfield by gifting each of our Pre-K and Kindergarten students with a special little bear. This generous gesture was made in honor of Ms. Kemsen Bourque, former OCS teacher, who used to host a teddy bear picnic at our school. The tradition of the teddy bear picnic is something that deeply resonated with Stephanie, and she wanted to honor Ms. Bourque's memory in a special way.
Stephanie is not only an author but also the owner of the prestigious Maine publishing company, McSea Books. She kindly gifted our school with several books from McSea Books' collection. McSea Books is an award-winning children's book publisher with a strong commitment to producing high-quality children's literature. Their titles capture the true essence of New England and engage readers of all ages. McSea Books connects talented writers with skilled artists to create brilliant stories that encourage hands-on learning and spark authentic curiosity in our students.
We are incredibly grateful for the visit by Stephanie and Matthew Mulligan and their dedication to inspiring our students with their incredible story. Their presentation aligned perfectly with our mission to provide an enriching and motivating educational experience for our students.
We hope this introduction to Stephanie Mulligan, Matthew Mulligan, and McSea Books will inspire a sense of pride and connection within our school community.
