Dear Little Hawks,
Greetings from The School That Leads! We have had a great week back from Spring Break, and we are excited for the home stretch of our school year. Thank you for keeping up on our City High news in this week's update!
Orchestra to Italy!
Members of the City High Orchestra program traveled to Italy over Spring Break. The group performed throughout the country. Bravo! You can hear the orchestra at their Dessert Concert on March 27.
World Language Trips
City High Spanish and French students also had the opportunity to travel over break. Students went to Spain and France.
IJAG Lobbies in Des Moines
City High IJAG students advocated for educational funding and support for their tremendous program at the State Capitol. Students that lead!
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Third trimester parent/teacher conferences will be held on Tuesday, April 17, from 4:30-8:00 on a drop-in basis in classrooms.
Jazz Band is Rolling!
City High Jazz Band has had a very strong year. The group has performed brilliantly at various festivals and competitions. Jazz Ensemble earned one of the highest honors in the state by being selected to perform at the Iowa Jazz Championships. Pictured above are members of the group on a recent trip to Chicago. Also:

Congrats, Ashley!
Ashley Joens was named Miss Iowa Basketball and also the Gatorade Player of the Year for Iowa. The best in the state. Well deserved!
Clubs and Activities
City High offers over 60 different clubs and activities for students. We encourage our Little Hawks to be active and involved in our high school. Great stuff!
Mock Trial on to State
City High Mock Trial advanced to State Competition next week in Des Moines. The group did an excellent job at regional competition at the UI College of Law.
The Little Hawk Newspaper Among Best in Country!
The Little Hawk has been nominated for the highest honor in American high school journalism-- the National Pacemaker Award. Journalist Mina Takahashi was named the Iowa Journalist of the Year. Congratulations!
