Grant School Principal's Newsletter

Coming onto campus
If your student has an appointment, you need to check them out. Someone in the office will call for the student. DO NOT GO TO THE CLASSROOM.
If you are volunteering, you need to sign in and have a yellow sticker on and visible at all times.
State testing starting this week at Grant for grades 3-6
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Grant Elementary will begin working through our state mandated testing (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress--CAASPP) from Monday, April 23 to Friday, May 11.
State testing is for students in grades 3-6.
During our testing time, we are asking for your help to make sure that students are present, prepared, well rested and have had something to eat for breakfast. Please do your best to make appointments after school, when possible. Students that miss testing will be scheduled for make up testing.
While these tests are just one snap shot in time, please share with your student that they are important and will help us see their progress, areas that they are doing well, and some things that they can work on moving forward.
We thank you very much in advance for all your efforts to help our students do their very best on these assessments. As always, if you have questions please don't hesitate to email or call me directly.
Grant Security Committee Forming Now
The Grant PTA is putting together a Security Committee. This group will meet to look at how best to move forward with plans to make our campus a safer place and may also spearhead development of a long term plan and fundraising toward this effort. Be part of the solution. Please contact Alisha or Chantel if you are interested. Alishabasich@gmail.com or firstname.lastname@example.org
Author Visit, 4/24
Jessica Kensky & Patrick Downes will be visiting Grant on Tuesday to introduce their new book "Rescue & Jessica." It's the true story of Jessica, who uses 2 prosthetic legs, and her service dog Rescue. Rescue will be visiting as well! It's a very beautiful story of resilience and friendship.
Grant Garden Club, 4/25
Join us for a short afternoon of hands-on gardening with students. Our spring session of lunchtime garden club will meet on Wednesdays from 11:40 - 12:40 followed by dismissal at 12:45. Please bring gloves and trimmers if you have them.
Wednesday, April 25th: Meet by the "I am a promise" sign to freshen up beds around the amphitheater.
