Mrs. D's Weekly Class Newsletter

Week of January 8

Welcome Back Brent!

We are so glad to have Brent back in class with us!

Alternate Assessments

New York State Alternate Assessments for grades 3-5 will be done a little differently this year. Grade 4 Science Assessment will be conducted through the month of January and are due before February break. The ELA and Math portion of the exam will be done in the Spring and are to be conducted on a computer. There is still not a lot of information about the ELA and Math exams at this time, but I will forward the information as I receive it.

No Name Calling Week

On the week of January 19-22nd, we have No Name Calling Week. This is a program where we concentrate on bullying and how we can prevent it. It's a theme week and students are encouraged to dress special for each day.

Tuesday will be Hat Day. Students can wear a hat all day at school.

Wednesday will be Exercise Day. Students can wear their favorite exercise gear to school.

Thursday will be Cartoon Character Day. Students can wear clothing with their favorite cartoon characters on it.

Friday will be Favorite Team Day. Students can wear their favorite clothing and/or Jersey to school.

Valentine's Day Party

We will have a small Valentine's Day party on February 12th at 2:30. Students will make a small craft and then we will exchange Valentine's Day cards and eat some goodies. Parents are welcome to attend.
