Put a Bow on It!
Yes, VIrginia, there is Sunday School this week! For our elementary kids, we'll be finishing our unit on Joy. All the students will stay in the Large Group Room together for our finale and to celebrate Christmas Eve. Remember that there is only 1 service at 10:30 am on December 24th. Then, at 3:00, join us for a Keepsake Christmas!
A Keepsake Christmas
This Christmas Eve, we are planning a very special family program unlike any you've ever attended. During this 1-hour interactive program, kids and their families will create their very own Keepsake nativity scenes to treasure for years to come. But that’s not all! They’ll also watch as the nativity scene comes to life on stage. Mary, Joseph, and an angel will share memories from the very first Christmas and encourage families to celebrate the best Keepsake of all…Jesus! The Family Service is on Sunday, December 24th at 3:00pm. We hope you will join us!
Beginning January 7th
A new unit on Commitment! We'll be talking about those New Year's Resolutions! We're going to encourage your kids to commit to their relationship with God - what that looks like and how to go about making it happen. I'm super excited about this fun unit - we even have some guest missionary speakers who will be sharing with us about how they talk about God with others - one of the skills that we'll be working on. You won't want to miss it!
Big Changes for the 4th/5th classes
Have you noticed that your 4th/5th grader isn't behaving and think the same way they were even a year ago? That's because they aren't! They're lives are starting the transition that we fondly call puberty - everything is in flux, nothing stays the same - they're even starting to think more abstractly! So, our lessons are going to be reflecting that in a more cohesive way. We will be asking them to think rather than just passing on knowledge to them. And, we've changed the classroom so they have more flexibility in breaking into small groups, doing activities and, well, being comfortable. Check out the new look - we have more fun changes coming through January!

Mom's Night Out
After the hustle and bustle of the holidays, are you a mom in need of a relaxing evening with like-minded friends? Join other OLCC,P Moms and friends Wednesday, January 31st, at Kickstand B&G on Commerce & Union Lake Road for dinner and conversation without the children. We’ll start at 6:30 but if you can’t join until later, no worries!
Read the Orange Scripture
Each week, one of the elementary children participates in the service by reading a (usually) short scripture related to our lesson that week. If your child is interested in reading, please contact Elizabeth or signup below.
Support the Donut Table
Many of our children enjoy the donut holes, cookies and lemonade each week. The gathering committee needs help setting up and cleaning up each Sunday. There is a signup in the Lakeview Area. Also, if your children enjoy eating the goodies, please consider dropping a donation in the basket to help pay for them - or ask your children to bring in some allowance to donate!
Usher or Greet
If your child enjoys helping out, the Deacons always welcome new Greeters (who stand at the door and say 'Hi' as people come in) and Ushers (who stand at the sanctuary doors and pass out bulletins). If you are able to arrive 15 minutes early for a service, consider signing up in the Lakeview area.
