Math Updates
How do you feel about math?
Did you know that your beliefs about math could have an impact on your child’s achievement? There is research that supports the idea that the messages parents give their children about math can have a dramatic effect on their performance. The linked article, Parents’ Beliefs about Math Change Their Children’s Achievement, explains the findings of the studies and provides suggestions for how we can interact with our children in ways that will help them understand that learning in math happens with effort and believing that we are capable.. I hope you will take the time to read it. If you would like additional information intended to help parents support their children in learning mathematics, this website is a fabulous resource.
Wishing you a warm and sunny spring! If we can support you or your child(ren) in their math learning, please make contact with his/her classroom teacher or the WKMS math specialist,christine.thereault@fcps.org.
