Hard working students and teachers
This week's blog is highlighting the teachers and students who are working hard. I was so impressed throughout the week with students and teachers working hard before school, when students arrived at 8:00AM, throughout the school day and then after school. On Monday morning within minutes of arriving at school, the amount of academic work being completed by students was nothing short of amazing.
This is an extremely important time of the school year. Every moment is important. There are less than 20 school days until SOL testing begins and we are all trying to get our students to their academic goals be it SOL, PALS, DSA, or IEP goals. The decisions we make to keep our students engaged and monitored during the next 8 weeks will determine their outcomes.
I was impressed beyond words this week so thank you!

Teacher Attendance
We are entering a very important time in the school year. Students will be taking SOL tests and PALS assessments. A lot of our staff members will be assigned to assist with testing and all the things that come with end of the year activities.
We truly need ALL HANDS ON DECK.
Any absence: Sanford's SPRING attendance policy requires all teachers to notify me of any absence. Details are not important. It assists us with planning and preparation
Personal Days: I cannot guarantee that all personal days can be approved in the spring so if you are planning a personal day you should request it as soon as possible because the school may not have the capacity to approve them.
Teacher attendance has a big impact on our students. But, it is also impacts your colleagues, the people on your grade level team are most impacted by a colleague's absence in the increased work they need to give attention to and the support required of subs. Please keep this in mind as this message is my way of advocating for our teachers.
