Spring 2021 TELPAS Testing
Federal and state laws require that all English Language Learners be annually assessed via the TELPAS instrument to measure English progress in the domains of Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. Katy ISD will administer the spring 2021 TELPAS to eligible students beginning February 22 through March 29, 2021. TJH has notified parents of their child’s specific in-person testing dates. Please note that the Reading and Listening/Speaking assessments are administered online in a campus monitored session. If you received an email regarding your child’s test dates, please fill out google doc by Friday, March 5th.
TELPAS Testing Information:
· Students attending in-person learning and KVA are required to complete all TELPAS assessments in-person at their home campus.
· KVA students may ride district transportation to and from campus on their scheduled test date(s). Or, parents may elect to transport their child to and from the campus.
· KVA students are eligible for meals served on their scheduled test date(s).
· English Language Learners must meet certain criteria, including Advanced High on TELPAS to be reclassified.
· It is a Katy ISD priority that our stakeholders (parents, teachers, and students) have TELPAS assessment data to understand the possible impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on student learning.
· Eligible TELPAS test takers who elect to not take the annual assessment will not be considered for reclassification and required to complete the spring 2022 TELPAS assessment.
· Students are required to follow all COVID-19 safety protocols including the wearing of a facial covering when on campus and participating in the TELPAS assessments.
