MLC News Update
November 4, 2017
Notes from Alexa
We look forward to seeing everyone at conferences this week on Wednesday and Thursday. You can sign up for conferences by visiting our MLC website for online conference sign ups, or contact your teacher if they are not using the online sign ups. This is an important time to check in on the progress your child is making in school. The family school partnership is an important one, and we look forward to seeing you. I hope everyone received my email about the Parents Talk Racial Equity for Nov. 7 and Nov. 13th 6:00-8:00. We hope to see you there. One last reminder is that we do not have school on Nov.10th. Have a great week!
El Dia de los Muertos- Alter
Spanish teacher Melanie Jeudy taught her classes about El Dia de los Muertos. Click here to learn more!
Las Calaveras
Las Calaveras were part of learning about El Dia de los Muertos.
Our Beloved Empress Tree
We are working with PPS, PP&R, and the Heritage Tree Committee to discuss the Empress tree on blacktop which will either be entirely removed or the top canopy will be removed for safety reasons. Students wrote letters and reflections, signed petitions, and honored our special tree this week.

TAG
The deadline for nominating your child for Talented and Gifted (TAG) is approaching on November 13th.
This would be a good topic to address at conferences this week with your teacher. They will have nomination forms with them and can review the nomination process with you.
AVID
Looking for high school AVID tutors on A-days 8:15-9:45 ish. Tutors are paid per hour and great resume builder. You do not have to be knowledgeable on any content area, but love helping students with a problem solving technique and training is provided. Come join MLC!
