Principal's Message

AJHS Family,

I hope everyone is enjoying a great summer by finding some time to rest and relax. The new school year will be here before you know it and we want to go ahead and get some information out to everyone. If you are an incoming student/family to AJHS, then welcome! Please follow the school on Facebook and Instagram as well as check out the website intermittently for updates, information, and pictures of the many events our students participate in throughout the year.

This newsletter contains important information concerning: summer assignments, Snapcode enrollment, schedule pickup dates/times, and 8th grade Orientation.

Campus Construction

We are excited to have several construction projects going on at our campus right now. However, these have displaced our front office at times this summer. Our school office is open Monday-Thursday from 7:30-4:00. Also, please do not hesitate to contact any of the following individuals for assistance this summer:

Dr. Mark Christopher - Principal: mark.christopher@dcs.k12.al.us

Mrs. Jennifer Blevins - Assistant Principal: jennifer.blevins@dcs.k12.al.us

Dr. Tamera Lowe-Preer: Assistant Principal: tamera.preer@dcs.k12.al.us

Ms. Missey Nichols - Guidance Counselor: missey.nichols@dcs.k12.al.us

Mrs. Lee Hasting - Instructional Coach: lee.hasting@dcs.k12.al.us

Mrs. Misty Palma - Attendance/Enrollment: misty.palma@dcs.k12.al.us

2022-23 Schedule Pickup Dates/Times

We will host schedule pickup times on:

Tuesday, August 2nd from 10:00-12:00

Wednesday, August 3rd from 10:00-12:00 and 4:00-6:00

These time slots are opportunities for students to receive their schedule and walk the campus to find their classrooms.

8th Grade/New Student Orientation will be held on Wednesday, August 3rd at 4:30 in the auditorium. This session will give new students and families an opportunity to meet our administrative team and go over multiple topics such as: bell schedule, bus and car-line, attendance, grades, etc...

Summer Assignments

The Summer Assignments (Math and Reading) can be found on the DCS Website (link below).

Student assistance is available! Please note the Middle School (8th grade) and High School (9th grade) Summer Assignment Support Schedules on these pages as well. Students can virtually meet and/or email teachers for support as needed.

Printed copies of all AJHS summer assignments are available in the main office.

Parents and guardians,

It is time to complete your student's snapcode for next school year. You should have already received and email with the information needed to complete this process. This is a required part of your student's enrollment and must be completed in order to receive a schedule. Please contact AJHS if you need assistance.

School Supply Lists for 2022-23 School Year

Spread the Word

We will attempt to get information out to our students and families in many different ways. Although SchoolCast is great tool to get information out quickly, many of our stakeholders "see and forget" these messages. Please help spread the word to follow AJHS on Facebook and Instagram. I also think that many people would rather see or watch than read. FB allows us to post short video message, tutorials and announcements. Thanks!
