Multiculturalism
Multiculturalism is not about favoring one voice over another. Rather it is about empowering our students by recognizing their unique points of view and teaching them to respect differences.
Why is multicultural education important for all students?
Multicultural education:
*Creates a safe, accepting and successful learning environment for all
*Increases awareness of global issues
*Strengthens cultural consciousness
*Strengthens intercultural awareness
*Teaches students that there are multiple historical perspectives
*Encourages critical thinking
*Prevents prejudice and discrimination
