WHAT'S COMING UP
Mar. 8 - Students Return for full in-person learning (White Day)
Mar. 15 - Mar. 19 - Spring Break - No Classes
Return to Full In-person Learning
Students whose families have selected remote learning will remain remote.
GEHS will return to the normal full in-person environment with alternating blue & white block schedule. There will however be a change with our Block 3, Lunch & Seminar. Instead of 4 lunch blocks, there will be 5 lunch blocks to accommodate the number of students and allow room for social distancing. Block 3 classes for both Blue & White days become your new seminar. There are a few exceptions to this change, and they will be directly communicated to the student(s) from a teacher. Seminar will remain as “No Movement.” (See the attachment for lunch schedule.)
Free meals will continue to be provided daily to all students while attending in person through the end of the school year. No pre-order or advance notice is needed for these meals. Families whose students remain in the remote learning model will continue to be able to obtain free weekly meal kits that will continue to be ordered through our menu website.
Students and staff will continue to follow all COVID-19 mitigating actions, including masking, physical distancing – wherever possible, and handwashing. We will continue to work with JCHE, KSDE, and KDHE officials to implement all measures necessary to keep students and staff safe.

Blazer Wrestling
This weekend the GEHS Wrestling team wrapped up the season in Wichita at the State Tournament.
The Fab 5 Girls Team kicked things off on Thursday putting 3 female wrestlers - the first ever - on the podium. Lilly Kepler and Shelby Davis both took third and Dakota Konzem took 4th. These 3 young ladies are as nice as they come, but they bring it when they step on the mat! Jaidyn Andrews and Michaela Konzem were close but did not place. These girls made tremendous gains throughout the season and were true Trailblazers for the sport and the school.
The boys took the mats on Saturday for a wild, long day. Jay Jensen and Collin and Kasen Smith battled tough but fell one match short of placing. Keeghan Troutman, got hot the last three weeks of the season and was an absolute hammer on top getting huge pins that led him to a 6th place finish. Keeghan is an extremely nice young man, works hard and does things the right way so it was great to see this pay off for him.
Gus became a dominant undefeated State Champion. While that is impressive alone - he did it all on a knee that he severely injured just 9 days ago. We thought his season was over in the blink of an eye - but always the optimist Gus just grinned and said - well, they just leveled the playing field for the others. Never did he feel sorry for himself, make an excuse, blame or even question it. Gus knew he was going to win a state title on one leg if he had to - and did.
Girls Blazer Basketball
Wednesday GEHS traveled to #2 seed Olathe Northwest and played their first round sub-state game. The first quarter of the game was the best basketball the girls have played all year. ONW could not get anything going offensively because of our defensive pressure. They shot the ball with a lot of confidence and hit 4 3 pointers in the first several minutes. First quarter score was 18-2.
A defensive change by them knocked the Blazers on their heels in the second quarter and they were able to cut their deficit. It was 23-20 going into half time.
From that point on the game got really intense! The Blazers found themselves down for the first time in the entire game with 4 minutes left to go in the fourth. Lauren Havlik was the game changer the first time we played ONW and she was able to do it again this game as well. She had 2 huge drives that resulted in layups to put us back on top for good. It was a one possession game with under a minute to go and Brenley Cunningham hit 2 crucial free throws to make it a 2 possession game that ONW would not be able to come back from. Final score was 52-46.
Sofia Semon has been really solid and ended the night with 18 points. Abri Leiker and Brenley had 7 each. Kiersten Markos was our leading rebounder with 7.
Sub-state CHAMPIONSHIP game is Saturday at 3:00 at Olathe West.
