About the mission

The scheduled landing was February 1st, Unfortunetly when they re-entered the atmosphere they had a horrible accident. The reason why is in this video.


- The Columbia STS-107 mission lifted off on January 16 2003 for a 17 day science mission.

- Columbia mission was the first mission to earth orbit.

- Columbia orbiter suffered a failure due to a breach that occurred during launch.

All seven members were lost 15 min before the scheduled landing

- To celebrate his (willie McCool)bequest he had a "funeral"

It was in Lubbock because he graduated high school there.

- while in orbit, the space shuttle traveled around Earth at a speed of about 17,500 miles per hour. At this speed, the crew can see a sunrise or sunset every 45 minutes.
