Principles Corner:
As we are wrapping up the school year, I want to encourage you to continue to have your student(s) in school every day from start to finish! There is a lot going on at the end of the school year, and all of it is IMPORTANT. From our end of the year testing to show how much your child(ren) has grown, to celebrations with classmates and school end of the year fun experiences, we don't want your child to miss out!
Thanks for a wonderful school year! Teachers and staff appreciate your support and teamwork. We look forward to working with our Rex Roadrunners again next year!

Learning Facilitator Corner:
As this school year begins to wind down, I want to say that excellent things have been going on in your child’s classroom! As far as reading, your child has been given the tools to help them succeed at decoding and blending words together. They have practiced not only how to read in a fluent manner, but to read with expression, smoothness and phrasing. As your child prepares for the upcoming grade, please help keep their skills fresh during our nice, long summer break by trying some of these fun activities:
Go on a scavenger hunt – have a written list (or pictures if your child is in PreK/KDG) of things for your child to read and look for outside. Be creative!
Read and write a recipe of your favorite foods, then make that food.
Check out some funny poems from your library and read them in silly voices together.
Listen to books on cd or online, discuss the characters, setting, plot, etc.
Play “I Spy” using rhyming words, initial or final sounds, syllables, etc.
Read lyrics to their favorite songs and sing them.
Write compound words (or any words) in shaving cream, sand or play dough.
Use side-walk chalk to create words with prefixes and suffixes.
Read signs you see in your environment – billboards, businesses, etc.
Check out some websites by Googling your child’s grade level + reading activities.
Have a wonderful and relaxing summer vacation ~ Don’t forget to READ!
