Hello PHS!
PHS Families - Mark you calendars for Virtual Parent Teacher Conferences
Tuesday, October 26 and Thursday, October 28 from 4pm - 8pm
Parents/Guardians may sign up for a 10 minute video conference with each of your student's teachers or teachers of your choice. Please adhere to the 10 min time limit on these dates. If additional time is needed, arrangements can be made. Conference time is a great opportunity for parents/guardians to get to know your student's teachers, to talk about what support is needed to improve and maintain academic and behavioral performance in school and to stay on track for graduation.
Click on the link here to begin to schedule conferences.
Please remember to schedule conferences with 1st semester teachers only.

Please Welcome Mrs. Rawson to PHS!
College and Career Transition
Hello Prairie Hawks!
My name is Ms. Rawson and I am Prairie's College and Career Transition Counselor (CCTC) from Kirkwood Community College. As a CCTC, my role is to support Prairie students in planning for college or career after high school. I can work with students in researching, planning, applying and enrolling in post-secondary options. I have worked in college and career planning for 12 years, most recently in Denver, Colorado where I directed the college and career program at DSST: Green Valley Ranch High School. When I am not working with students, you can find me spending time with my family, rooting for the Chicago Cubs or rediscovering the Corridor area through running. I am so grateful and excited to be a part of the Prairie community and cannot wait to see the impact that Prairie students will make in the world. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, concerns, or simply to schedule a meeting. I can be contacted at nrawson@crprairie.org or simply schedule a meeting with me at https://calendly.com/nrawson.

Career Services...
Internships provide an opportunity to figure out what type of things you want to do, but also what you don’t want to be doing. Such an experience may help you avoid investing money and time in a field, or choose a type of career you have no interest in. One student described, “During my internship I learned that sitting behind a computer and doing computer work is not for me. I learned that I really like to help people with more hands-on work.”
Applications for Winter and Spring Workplace Learning Connection Internships open September 27, 2021 and close November 5, 2021 at 3:00 p.m
Completed applications include:
Student Portion
Parent/Guardian Approval
Teacher Recommendation
School Approval
Once all four components are completed, you will receive an email with instructions regarding your Outside Reference. We anticipate interviews in November.
Remember, the internship program is a class in our Program of Studies. Please ensure your counselor holds a spot in your schedule (just as you do for other classes). Hosts request interns on site at either the beginning or end of the day.
Email Mary Gudenkauf at mgudenkauf@crprairie.org for more information. She is here to help you identify, investigate and experience a variety of career paths.
