Womens' fashion during the 20's

For the first time in centuries, women's legs were seen with hemlines rising to the knee and dresses becoming more fitted. A more masculine look became popular.Two-piece sweater and skirt outfits in luxurious wool jersey were also popular. There was an instant hit for morning dresses and sports suits as well.

Mens' fashion during the 20's

Throughout the decade, men wore short suit jackets, the old long jackets being used merely for formal occasions. In the early 1920s, men's fashion was characterized by extremely high-waisted jackets, often worn with belts. Lapels on suit jackets were not very wide as they tended to be buttoned up high. This style of jacket seems to have been greatly influenced by the uniforms worn by the military during the First World War. Trousers were relatively narrow and straight and they were worn rather short so that a man's socks often showed. Trousers also began to be worn cuffed at the bottom at this time.

Kids' fashion during the 20's

By 1920, clothes were very much designed with children in mind, and attention was paid not just to style, but to the comfort and needs of children. The Roaring Twenties an era of liberation in much of society and this was reflected in clothing trends for men, women and children. Shorter dresses for girls and sailor suits for boys appeared in the mid-19th century, the idea of clothes specifically designed for children did not take hold until much later.

Entertainment during the 1920's

The economic power and high employment of the United States allowed Americans to spend more extravagantly on entertainment. Watching movies and listening to the newly invented radio became increasingly popular during this period, which further encouraged the desires of people for Hollywood style lives of indulgence and ease. At the beginning of the decade, films were silent and colorless. In 1922, the first all-color feature, The Toll of the Sea, was released. In 1926, Warner Bros.released Don Juan, the first feature with sound effects and music. In 1927, Warner released The Jazz Singer, the first sound feature to include limited talking sequences.

Cars during the 1920's

The first automobile, however, was not invented in the 1920's.When Henry Ford introduced the world to the Model T, the wheels on innovation began to churn. Throughout the early 21st century, the Model T dropped from its original price of $825 to $360 8 years later. Because of its ease to operate, low cost, and simplicity in repair, the Model T sold like hotcakes. By 1918, half of all cars in America were Model T's. By the mid-1920's sales began to decline steadily due to fierce competition. T‑Model Ford, Model T Ford, or T) is an automobile that was produced by Henry Ford's Ford Motor Company from October 1, 1908 to May 27, 1927.There was also Riley Motors. Riley Motors was a British motorcar and bicycle manufacturer from 1890.
