COMMUNION

Beginning August 7, we plan to resume serving bread cubes, juice, and wine during the distribution of the communion elements. Pre-packaged elements will still be made available for those who do not feel comfortable receiving the elements from trays that are passed.

DRINKING FROM THE PSALMS

Sermon series on Psalms continues through September 4

Join us as we continue our six-week sermon series that focuses on six psalms that reflect how we experience the life of faith, with all its ups and downs! Sometimes life is stable, and the world seems dependable (Psalms 1 and 113). Other times it feels like everything is falling apart and what we have known and trusted doesn’t seem true (Psalm 69). The final three weeks will focus on the redirection of faith in a trustworthy God and creation, though we don’t forget the downs (Psalms 27, 40 and 146). The schedule is as follows:

  • August 7 - God Stoops Down, Psalm 113
  • August 14 - When the Floods Rise, Psalm 69:1-16
  • August 21 - My Light and My Salvation, Psalm 27
  • August 28 - A New Song (Youth Service), Psalm 40:1-10
  • September 4 - Praise and Trust, Psalm 146

ZONING VARIANCE UPDATE

The City of Litchfield Park’s Board of Adjustment has had to reschedule until September 1 it’s meeting regarding our zoning variance application for a zero-lot line on the south and west sides of our property. Please be in prayer that the board will be able to act on our application at that time.

The Master Plan Committee and the Capital Campaign Committee are at a standstill until we know the outcome of the vote. If our request is approved, the Master Plan Committee will contact the architect to complete the rendered drawing of the improvements. This drawing will give all of you a visual of the campus improvements and will be useful for marketing materials the Capital Campaign Committee is currently working on. Your Board of Directors will keep you up to date as we move through this process. Thank you.

TOWEL WRAP FOR NEW LIFE CENTER

Sunday, August 21, plan to join other church friends and family to wrap towels and toiletries for residents of the New Life Center. Plan to meet in Souers Community Hall following the third service, from about noon-2pm. Everyone is invited to help – singles, couples, families, all ages! This is a community service outreach project through our missions and community engagement teams. Please keep saving your travel-size personal care items. Toothbrushes and small tubes of toothpaste would be especially appreciated. If you are able to help sign up at https://clp.breezechms.com/form/towels.

CAN YOU PRUNE OUR ROSE GARDENS?

Volunteers are needed to help maintain CLP beautiful rose gardens. Roses need to be pruned in fall and early spring. During the blooming period, spring to autumn, the bushes need to be “dead-headed”. Deadheading is removing spent blooms from the bush. Doing such allows the bush to continue blooming. Otherwise, the rose will go to seed and much blooming will cease. There will be training of techniques for pruning and deadheading provided. Men and Women are invited to join in this rewarding endeavor. Highschool students are also welcome. For more information contact the church office or signup online at https://clp.breezechms.com/form/roses.

SEEKING CHORAL SINGERS

Join our choir for the final Summer Singers Sunday on August 14! We meet at 7:30am in the choir room and we will rehearse and sing at the 8am and 9:15am services. We would love to have you join us!

Did you know that two-thirds of Christians come to faith before the age of 18, and 43% of Christians come to Christ before the age of 12? Sunday School volunteers change lives, and we need your help. If you have a passion for seeing children grow and engage in their faith, we have a place for you. Curriculum, training, and support are provided by Children's Ministries Director Aimee Wickersham. You will also join a fantastic team of volunteers. Currently, we need preschool age and 3rd-5th grade teachers. Sign up today and make a difference: https://clp.breezechms.com/form/SundaySchool.

MUSICIANS AND VOCALISTS

Do you play the drums, guitar, bass guitar or sing? We would love to grow our 10:45am worship team. Rehearsals are currently on Monday night and prior to the 10:45am worship service in Souers Hall. If you are interested in learning more contact Pablo at pquijas@clp.church.

HANDBELL CHOIR

Our handbell choirs are made up of wonderful people just like you. Some of them couldn't read a bit of music when they started, but our Bell Master, Marilyn, taught them what they needed to know. You are invited to call Marilyn or leave word in the church office. if you would like to be a part of either of the choirs. All of us would love to have you join us!
