Principal's Message
As I am writing this, students, teachers, and parents are putting the finishing touches on this year's Art Ball installations. The projects are astounding! I am truly amazed by the artistry of each work and by our students' many talents. Thank you to all of our dedicated teachers and volunteers for making such a unique community event happen.
Today also happens to be the day we celebrated Earth Day at Chapman. In Round Up today, Ms. Eaton's 2nd grade class reminded us to use refillable water bottles instead of throw-away paper cups. Our Green Team discovered recently that our school uses over 3000 paper cups a week, on average. Since sharing this information, this number has gone down a bit, but we would like to see it go down even more. To help with this effort, we would like to ask for any water bottle donations you can make to the school. If you have an extra bottle or two at home, or know of an organization that gives them out, please bring them to the main office. Our school (and the environment) will thank you!

Message from the PTA President
Dear Chapman Families,
Staff Appreciation Week (May 1-5) is quickly approaching and we are in need of volunteers to help provide a week of special treats for Chapman's amazing teachers and staff! If you would like to help, please sign up here.
Monday-Volunteers are needed to bring in breakfast treats. Food items should be delivered by 7:45 to Room 18. We’ll also need some help with clean up at the end of the day.
Tuesday-Salt and Straw is treating the staff to ice cream! We need a volunteer to help set up around 2 and one to clean up around 4.
Wednesday- We are looking for appetizers and drinks to accompany a taco bar donated by Whole Foods in the Pearl. We’d also love some help with setting up or cleaning up.
Thursday-Snack Buffet-Two volunteers are needed to assist with setting up a snack buffet. We’ll also need some help with clean up at the end of the day.
Friday- Mrs. VanDerWolf, Ms. Kuether and Ms. Kruger will provide treats for the staff.
Miscellaneous- Thank You Cards and Flowers: Please have your students make thank you cards for Chapman staff: teachers, support staff, cafeteria, custodial, librarian, counselor, secretaries, etc.! These cards will be displayed around the staff room on various days throughout the week. Please bring cards to the PTA mailbox in the front office. Also we are looking for families to bring in flowers for table decorations.
Thank you and let me know where you would like to help out! If you have any questions, please contact me at ctmarten@yahoo.com.
Best,
Christy Marten
