Important Registration Information for 2021-2022
Students should complete the google form for course registration for the 2021-2022 school year. This form was emailed to students' school email accounts on Monday, February 1, and must be completed by February 7, 2021. Please remember that these are only course requests and that you may not receive every course you choose on the form. If you have questions about course registration for next year, please contact your grade level counselor.
*If this form is not completed by February 7, counselors will select courses for you based on what is needed for graduation.
How to Complete Online Form
Scroll down until you see the "NEXT" button to begin filling out the online form. Continue through the 6 sections of the form by clicking "NEXT" at the end of each section. At the end of the form, you will click "SUBMIT" when you are finished. Make sure your choices are final before submitting as you will only be able to fill out this form once.
eLearning and Testing--Tuesday, February 9
We want to remind our students and parents that 9th, 11th, and 12th graders will have an eLearning Day on Tuesday, February 9th. Our 10th graders will take the PreACT on Tuesday, and we will also have a small number of 12th graders who will take the make-up WorkKeys test on Tuesday. (The seniors who need to come for this test were contacted today.)
*HGHS 9th, 11th, and 12th graders will have assignments posted online for each of their classes on Tuesday.
PreACT for Sophomores
All SOPHOMORES (traditional and remote) need to come to HGHS for the Pre-ACT on Tuesday, February 9th. This test is mandatory for all 10th graders. Testing will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. and should conclude by 1 p.m. Students will be allowed to leave after testing is complete.
Students will report to the old gym Tuesday morning and will be released to their testing rooms at 8:15 a.m. Testing will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. Testing rosters/room locations will be sent to sophomores before Tuesday.
Breakfast will be served, and a grab-and-go lunch will be available after testing.
Buses will run as normal Tuesday morning. Buses will run Tuesday afternoon as well. We expect buses to leave campus around 1:00-1:30 p.m. but we are not certain of departure time.
What to Bring for Testing
Please bring a photo ID (if you have one), an approved calculator, and two standard #2 pencils (no mechanical pencils). Face masks are required. You may bring a snack if you would like.
Please check the ACT Calculator Policy to make sure you bring an approved calculator.
What NOT to Bring for Testing
Please remember that digital devices including, but not limited to, cell phones and smart watches will NOT be allowed in the testing rooms. Students are encouraged not to bring backpacks, purses, etc. because these items will not be allowed in the testing rooms.
Prohibited Use of Cell Phones and Wearable Electronic Devices (from ACT)
Examinees may not handle or access a cell phone or electronic device at any time in the testing room or during breaks. This includes smart watches, fitness bands, and any other devices with recording, internet, or communications capabilities.

HGHS Band Clinics
Have you ever thought about learning a musical instrument? Have you played an instrument in the past but never tried it in high school? It is not too late! The HGHS Band will be having free clinics from 3:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning next week on February 9th. Even if you have never played an instrument, you will be able to try out a band instrument and learn during these practices taking place over the spring semester. By the end of May, you would be ready to join the band if you choose. See Mr. Harper in Room N125 for details or ask a band member.
Area Basketball Tournament
While both of our varsity basketball teams are hosting the Area Tournament this year, the tournament will actually be held at HGHS and Athens High School. Please see schedule below and plan to support our Trojans! Admission for all games will be $6, and tickets can only be purchased on GoFan. No tickets will be sold at the gate.

ACT for Juniors: All JUNIORS (traditional and remote) are scheduled to take the ACT Plus Writing at HGHS on Tuesday, March 9th. More information coming soon!

Auditions for Hazel Green High School's FIRST EVER spring musical will be Thursday and Friday, February 4th and 5th, starting at 3:45 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre. Please wear a mask and social distance. We will provide scripts for cold reads, but you need to have a song prepared to sing. You can sing ANY SONG--with or without music. You do not have to be a current or past theatre student, AND remote students are encouraged to audition too. There are roles for EVERYONE! Rehearsals will be after school. Show dates will be in late April.

Permanent Announcements
Online Application for Free/Reduced Meals: Online free and reduced meal applications are available at the link below for a faster, more confidential way to apply. A new application must be completed each school year to qualify for free or reduced meals. Your child's eligibility status carries over to the new school year for the first 30 school days, allowing parents time to re-apply. Only one application per household should be submitted, and everyone living in the house must be included on the application.

Subscriptions are $9.99 a month (can be renewed monthly) or $69.99 a year (renewed annually).

HGHS Check-Out Procedures:
- Students drop check-out notes in the basket on the attendance clerk’s desk before 8:30 in the morning.
- Notes will be verified by the attendance clerk prior to the time of check-out.
- Check-out notes need the following information:
- Student’s first and last name (printed)
- Time of check-out
- Reason for check-out
- Parent’s signature
- Parent’s contact information
Without a parent note, no student will be allowed to check out unless a parent/guardian comes to the Attendance Office to check out the student. Parent notes must be turned in to the Attendance Office before 8:30 a.m. No phone checkouts will be allowed. The only exception will be if the school nurse determines that a student is sick and needs to go home. The school nurse will then contact the parent/guardian and the Attendance Office.
*Please go to door #44 at the back of the school (near the Trojan statue and courtyard) for all check outs. No check outs are done through the front office.
