No Excuses University--Assessment
EDU650: Teaching, Learning, and Leading in the 21st Century
My Perspective
My perspective on Lopez’s quote, “Assessment is not about you as a teacher; it is about your students”, is assessing students has everything to do with the students and not us, the educator. Assessments are used in the classroom to evaluate student knowledge and skills by teachers to know how to plan instruction for each student.
Mindset on Assessments
After reading this week’s chapter, my mindset on assessments was validated. I use GOLD assessments in my classroom to evaluate students. The assessment tools are in alignment with Common Core State Standards and Illinois Early Learning Standards and Guidelines. By assessing each child, I am able to determine what the child knows already and what is important for each child’s learning and development.
How I Will Use the Questions
I will use these questions in my current practice to ensure the assessments I am using are beneficial to promoting each child’s learning experience.
