Note from the Principal

Greetings Battle Creek Middle Families,

We are already two weeks into Term 2. To view your student’s Term 1 final grades, please log into your SPPS Parent Portal account. Report cards will not be mailed home. If you would like to request a hard copy of your student’s report card, please call our main office at 651-293-8960.

We started the new term with teachers revisiting classroom and building rituals, routines and expectations. Support staff and administration followed up with reviewing building expectations in all three lunches the first day of the new term. We also implemented more frequent hallway sweeps to support students transitioning between classes on time. We continue to support our students in understanding positive school culture while also holding them accountable for expected school behavior as outlined by SPPS Rights and Responsibilities Handbook.

We also received communication notification from SPPS Transportation that some students are getting on the school bus without a mask. This is a reminder that masks are required on all school buses and in all SPPS buildings. It is also important that students only ride on their assigned bus route. If there are changes that require your student needing to take a different bus, please contact the main office right away so we can support your request with SPPS Transportation to get your student an updated bus route. It is important that students comply with bus expectations. Bus expectations are also outlined in the SPPS SPPS Rights and Responsibilities Handbook for more information.

I also want to take this opportunity to extend gratitude to our students who come every day ready to learn. To our families for your continuous support, partnership, and trusting your student in our care. And to our community of educators for their tireless dedication and commitment to our students, families and each other during a very challenging school year.

As we approach this long weekend, I want to wish you and your family a safe and restful holiday break.

In partnership,

Oulia Yang, Principal

The mastery award continues

The Mastery Award is for students who have perfect score on the unit exams. There have been students who only missed one question that did not make the Mastery Awards, but you should see how diligently they are working towards the Mastery Awards, now.

The last quiz was harder, but students' percentages were higher overall because they were going after the award. Many students declare they will be next to be a part of the Mastery Awards.
