STEM Conference
Tech Savvy is a one-day STEM Conference hosted at Texas Tech University, designed for girls 6th through 8th grade and their parents. The program's purpose is to help young girls discover realistic STEM careers and pathways to education, and equip parents and teachers to be an encouraging and reinforcing part of the process. All parents are encouraged to attend, however, if the students want to come with their friends, or a teacher, that's great, too!
Registration is now open! Workshops have a limited number of slots, so register soon to make sure you get the workshops you want!
During registration, students will be able to select their top choices for workshops. Any adult attending with the student will be participating in the adult program, and will also need to register. Parents not participating in the adult program should plan on waiting with their student until they are checked in. Parents can meet their students for pickup in the same (drop-off) location at the end of the program. Parents dropping off their students do not need to register or pay.
8th Grade Banquet
Dear Parents,
Please see the following message from the LBMS Eight Grade Banquet Committee:
The LBMS Eighth Grade Banquet will be held from 7:00-10:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11 at the Merket Alumni Center (2521 17th Street [enter off of University Ave]). While this is not a school-sponsored event, all LBMS eighth grade students are invited. The attire is banquet wear. For girls, this is typically knee-length banquet dresses. For boys, this is typically suits. Tickets will be sold a few weeks prior to the event. We will post information regarding ticket sales in our class GroupMe. Dinner will be included in the cost of a ticket.
If you haven't already, please join the Class of 2023 on GroupMe. The link is provided below to join. This is the best place to stay updated on information regarding banquet, as well as ask questions.
We will create a photo slideshow of students to play at the Banquet. Erin Hudgens has graciously volunteered to help put this together. However, with over 300 eighth grade students, we need your help! We need you to send an email to LCPclassof2023@gmail.com with a baby picture and a current picture of your child no later than Friday, March 1. If you have any questions, you can contact Erin by text (806-790-4710) or email (erin.hudgens@umchealthsystem.com). This is a huge undertaking, so the sooner you can get your pictures emailed, the better. PLEASE include your child's name in the subject line of the email.
If you or your business would like to sponsor the DJ, photo booth, or table decorations, please contact Carrie Nelson at 806-786-2365 or by email at mikecarrie15@msn.com.
Our next fundraiser will be at Panda Express on Tuesday, January 29. You will need to show them the attached flyer for our class to get credit. (We will also post the flyer in GroupMe.)
If you have any other questions regarding the Banquet, please contact Mindy Douglas at 806-778-6056 or Carrie Nelson at 806-786-2365.
Thank you!
