Louisville Middle School

THE PIRATE POST 11-18-22

From Principal Meyer

Dear Pirate families,

Our hope for you is to have a fantastic, fun, and safe Thanksgiving break for all of our Pirates and your families.

We have much to be thankful for at LMS. We have a community of students, teachers, staff and families who value community and high-quality education for all of our students. Thank you for all you do for your children and for our school! Enjoy a safe and rejuvenating holiday for you and your family. These are busy times and I encourage/remind you to take time with your kids to enjoy the moments, enjoy each other, give thanks, and connect together early and often.

As we celebrate all we have at LMS, please share your Pirate Pride with your friends and neighbors. We have entered our Open Enrollment window for the 2022/23 school year and we anticipate that we will be accepting a high number of 6th grade applicants for next year. As you explain the virtues of Louisville Middle School to our greater community, remember that we are the best middle school, in the best school district, in the incredible state of Colorado, because of our people. Our staff, our kids, and our families create the LMS difference and the PRIDE that we share together!

Finally, thank you for your support of our staff as we feel very appreciated with 70 pies (yes 70!) donated by families through PTO. It is a great day to be a Pirate. Please let us know if you have any questions, feedback, or needs we can support you with.

With appreciation,

Chris Meyer,

Principal

Canned Food for Kindness

Community, students and parents we are so proud to announce the completion of our Canned Food for Kindness Drive. This year we collected 3,377 pounds of consumable goods for our community! This includes 3,311 canned food items, all of which were high quality. Everything went directly to the Louisville Community Food Bank and it really stocked up their inventory for the high need in the coming months. Special thanks to No Place For Hate for all their organization, hard work, and hours of preparation. This picture, from Thursday, November 17th, is just two days worth of collections. We are so proud of our LMS Students!

Zero Waste Holiday Guide

Did you know: Americans create 25% more waste between Thanksgiving and New Year’s than any other time of year! This guide provides ideas and tips for reducing waste around holiday gift-giving and celebrations, as well as the current guidelines for recycling and composting your end-of-year waste items (including important updates on wrapping paper collection).

A most heartfelt THANK YOU to our PTO and LMS families for all of the delicious pies you donated to our staff and teachers. Yum! We are overwhelmed with gratitude for each and every one of you, and we can't wait to enjoy these over the Thanksgiving break.

NOTEWORTHY, ONGOING and REPEAT ITEMS

  • Thank you to our community members for their partnership:

    • Ascent Church partnered with us as they provided Thanksgiving food baskets we were able to provide to approximately 20 LMS families!

    • WinterSkate and Assorted Goods and Candy generously donated goods and experiences as incentives for our students as LMS collected over 3300 pounds of canned and dry-goods to donate to Community Food Share!

  • Fall Respiratory Illness Season Reminders: Please use this link to learn more about how we can all help to keep communicable diseases from spreading more easily this season.
