Educating every child for confidence today and contribution tomorrow.
A Message from the Principal
As November approaches, we begin our preparations for honoring America's veterans. Each year, we have a special assembly to give thanks to these very important men and women of the armed services. This year, we will have a virtual Veterans Day Assembly on November 1oth. If you would like us to honor a family member or friend who has served during our assembly, please complete this Honor our Veterans form. We will provide a link to the virtual assembly in your child's Seesaw or Google Classroom for your to view as a family. More details on this to follow. Thanks.
COVID-19 Mitigation: Test to Stay will be up and running starting next week. We sent home information and consent forms for families to review, sign and return in the event that your child is identified as a close contact of a person who is COVID positive at school. Please review the information sent previously and/or COVID section below.

A Note From the School Counselor
The Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) defines SEL as "the process thought which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions."
Quality, researched based social emotional curriculum has shown to positively impact academic performance, healthy relationships, mental health and a variety of other necessary life skills. WA State SEL standards are: Self Awareness, Social Management and Social Engagement.
Dieringer Heights staff incorporate Purposeful People, Second Step, We Thinkers, and Kelso's Choice curriculum, in additional to other supplemental instruction, to teach social emotional skills. We work to team with families in supporting the whole child because we believe social emotional learning is just as essential as academic instruction.
