The Weekly Jr. Oiler
March 24, 2017
Mrs. Glembocki's First Week
Just this week several exciting things happened with our Jr. Oilers. Mr. Mationg and Mr. Reyes' String Orchestra and Concert Band performed at the SCSBOA Festival and received all Superiors! Mrs. Radcliffe's art students were also recipients of some awards at the Southern Area California Art Education Association "United Through Art" exhibit. Christina Nghiem took 2nd place, Katie Price took 3rd, and Claire Pugh took Honorable Mention for all of Orange County in the visual arts category. In addition, Ms. Wood and Mr. Convery's soccer teams either tied or won their games this week. Way to go Jr. Oilers!
I look forward to seeing all of you tomorrow at A Day of Dwyer. Please join us from 10am - 9pm at Pacific City to experience all the great things we have going on. There will be student performances, art displays, drawings, a silent auction, and a meet-and-greet with me from 4-7 pm. This is a great opportunity to support our PTSA fundraiser and local businesses. See you there!
Attitude is Everything
Students heard a great message during assemblies from Jesse LeBeau, motivational speaker and actor. Jesse's message to students was that if you work hard and believe in yourself, anything is possible.
Mr. Belida's 6th grade Scientists erupted their volcanoes this week. Much discussion was heard about lava flow, magma, and how it changed the earth around it.
Pi Day Reward
Students competed last week to see who could memorize the most digits of Pi. Jaana Mantere memorized 121 digits and got to "pi" Mr. Smith during lunch!
