Principals Message:
Many amazing things were happening in our Eagle Nation this week. We wanted to take a moment and thank you for making it a great week for learning and fun:
- Thank you to everyone for getting to class on time and ready to learn this week. We have noticed a lot of improvement these last few weeks, with fewer students being marked tardy to class. It is important to be in class on time for your learning. So, Way to go, Eagles.
- Our Winter Sports Teams are rocking, with many of our teams having big wins this week. There were many exciting games, with several going into overtime. Congratulations to the Senior Wrestlers and Swim Team Student-Atleates who were recognized at their respective Senior Nights this week; you are all outstanding athletes. Also, thank you to all the students, staff, families, and community members who support our Eagle at all these games. Thank you for showing your support.
- Thank you to the CHS Booters who approved several grants during the Tuesday CHS Boster meeting where our CHS Girls Basket Ball, Key Club, and Baseball presented. It was a great leadership experience for our students, and the CHS Boster support is making a difference for our students and activities. Their next meeting will be in February, and they are always looking for volunteers, so come to their next meeting and support our Eagle.
- It was just fun to see so many students taking advantage of the different fields offered this week and having more experiences to be college and career-ready after CHS. Thank you for showing the community what it means to be an Eagle.
- Also, our students did an outstanding job in the One Act Plays presented on Thursday, and all the other students performed. There was a great turnout to support our students, with 100+ people in the audience, and they will rock the competition next Saturday at the Regional Acting Competition.
There are many more things that are too numerous to capture. Thanks to all of you for making it a great week! Go Eagle!
Remember, "Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle" at CHS!

College and Career Exploration
A survey of CHS students this fall told us that most students are looking for more information about college and career exploration and how to pay for college. We want to make sure that you know that this information is available through the CHS College and Career Center (in person from Mr. Henderson) as well as electronically through the CHS College and Career Center Newsletter. Here is the most recent version January College and Career Center Newsletter. This information is updated throughout the year and we suggest that students and parents of all grades review the information throughout the school year.

Star Math and ELA Assessment Results Mailed Home with Progress Reports
Included with the Trimester 2 6-week Progress Reports being sent home this week are student Renaissance Star Math and ELA assessment results. CHS Students will take the STAR Math and ELA Assessment three times this year through their Advisory classes. We use the results of these assessments to measure general achievement in reading and math and to determine individual student learning needs. As students take the assessment over the year, it will also show student learning growth and identify skills they can work on to improve their learning. It is essential to understand that these test scores provide only one picture of how a student is doing in school. You can Scan the QR Code or see https://www.renaissance.com/star-scores/ for more general information. If you have any questions, please get in touch with your student's teacher.
Inclement Weather Plan and Communication Methods
Now that we are in winter and the weather is colder, it’s a good time to revisit our plans to address inclement weather and communication methods. Centennial School District has a plan to monitor inclement weather and its potential impacts on school operations that may result in a school closure, a delayed start to the school day, or early dismissal. We notify our staff and families using multiple methods:
Automated messaging (voice, email, and text)
Centennial School District website: www.csd28j.org
Centennial School District Facebook @CentennialSD28j
District voicemail: 503-760-7990
Flash Alert notifies local news stations. Individuals can subscribe to receive FlashAlert updates for Centennial School District here: http://www.flashalert.net/id/centennialsd
