OZARK BOND UPDATE

On April 5, 2022, you — Ozark voters — approved a $19 million no tax increase bond issue for the District to construct storm shelters at Tiger Paw Early Childhood Center, Ozark Middle School and Ozark High School, as well as new entrance at OMS and an indoor activities building at OHS. Your vote made a difference and will make our schools safer while accommodating growth. The support of our community is one of our greatest assets.

After a year of planning following April 2022 voter approval for a bond to build 3 storm shelters and an indoor practice facility, we are excited to officially start the construction projects and break ground!

• OMS Groundbreaking will be at 5 p.m. March 23
• Tiger Paw Groundbreaking will be at 1:45 p.m. March 31
• Ozark High School Groundbreaking will be at 2:30 p.m. March 31

The public is invited to attend all of the events! We hope to see you there!

Starting this week, you may notice some extra construction equipment and dirt moving at OMS.

• The bid for the OMS storm shelter has been approved
• Over Spring Break, crews will remove the walkway canopies and start preparing the courtyard for dirt work and construction to begin
• A partition will be installed to continue to allow access to the main entry, while keeping students, staff and visitors safe
• The storm shelter is scheduled to be installed in July
• Because of construction, OMS students attending Summer School will do so at Ozark Junior High School (more Summer School details coming soon)

• The storm shelter at Ozark Middle School will be located in the courtyard where the current gazebo is, and will serve as additional classrooms
• As this facility nears capacity, adding 6-8 classrooms allows us to maximize its use
• The exterior of the storm shelter should be complete before the 2023/24 school year begins; the interior classrooms plan to be open for the 2024/25 school year
• We also plan to reconstruct the Middle School entrance
• The new entrance and visitor parking lot will be located on the southeast corner of the building where part of the playground currently is; The entrance will help with traffic flow for visitors in the building
• Estimated completion date is August 2024

• The bid has been accepted for the Tiger Paw Early Childhood Center storm shelter and ground work will start this spring
  

• The storm shelter will serve as a cafeteria
  

• Currently there is not a cafeteria or commercial kitchen in the facility
• Meals are delivered from East Elementary and eaten in the gymnasium
• The storm shelter will be located on the south side of Tiger Paw off of Church Street
• Estimated completion date is August 2024

• Bids are out and will go in front of the Board of Education for approval at the April meeting
• Groundwork is set to begin this spring
• The storm shelter at Ozark High School will serve as physical education and practice space
• The shelter will be located on the north end of the building near the greenhouse and wrestling barn
• Estimated completion date is August 2024

• An indoor practice facility will be constructed at the entrance of Tiger Stadium
• Bids are out and will go in front of the Board of Education for approval at the April meeting
• The indoor practice facility will join to the east side of the high school on the ground level and connect to the restrooms at the stadium concourse
• The indoor practice facility will include a 20-to-20 yard line turf and can be used for PE, athletics, activity and community groups
