Thank you Alamo parents!
Our fall parent-teacher conferences were fantastic! On behalf of the staff at Alamo Elementary would like to thank our families for coming out and attending our virtual Parent Teacher Conferences last week. We believe that together we can make a bigger impact on every student in order to make them the most successful. We had an outstanding turn out and look forward to future collaboration with you!
A HUGE THANK YOU to all of the families that helped sponsor a teacher for the conference dinner. It was extremely nice to have a warm meal between conferences. We feel so blessed to have such kind, supportive families.
Alamo Christmas Blessings!
Alamo will once again be adding a little Christmas cheer to local family’s holiday season. Please join us in sponsoring a family for the 2020 Christmas season.
The Alamo Giving Tree is coming soon! This year we will be doing a virtual Giving Tree via SignUp Genius. The sign up link will include gift items for families. You may sign up for whatever item you'd like from the tree. Once you sign up for an item, a gift tag will be sent home with your child so you can include the tag with the item to the Alamo office. We're asking that all items be returned to the school no later than Friday, December 4th. Please do NOT wrap the items. Please be sure to include the gift tag with your present so we know to which family member it belongs.
Please contact Nicole Knight-Lucas or Robbin Carter with any questions. 269-694-7600 or nknight-lucas@otsegops.org. Gift cards and monetary donations to go toward gifts are also welcomed. Thanks!
Thank you for your generous gift of giving!

Meet Ms. Mel!
Hello, Otsego Public Schools! My name is Melanie Conley, I am a lifelong resident of Allegan County and newest member to the OPS family. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor working with Pine Rest to provide therapy to the students of Otsego Public Schools! I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself since I was unable to do so the first week I started (March 30) due the Covid-19 pandemic.
I am a wife and mother of two awesome kids, ages 13 and 15. As mentioned earlier, I am a lifelong resident of Allegan county, growing up in Martin. There, I was born, raised, and graduated in 1996. After finishing high school, I moved to Indiana to pursue my bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice at Indiana Wesleyan University. I have always had a passion for working with adolescents whom are struggling, so, my career goals focused on this passion. Shortly after graduating, I started work at White’s Residential and Family Services, an at-risk residential youth facility. I enjoyed working with the youth and always valued the honesty and zeal that students portray. I found that choosing this field felt more like a calling than a passion. I decided to go back to school and pursue my master’s in Mental Health Counseling. I graduated from Capella University in 2013.
After graduating, I dedicated my career to having opportunities in accompanying people through mental health experiences. I feel I have been designed for this specific purpose: caring and helping those whom are struggling for whatever reason. I am located at Alamo half the time, the other half in the middle school and high school. I have enjoyed the opportunity to work with the kids from OPS, more specifically, students from Alamo. If there is ever a time that more support is needed, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at mconley@otsegops.org!
Read By Third Grade
In 2016, the Michigan Legislature passed a law that requires schools to identify learners who are struggling with reading and writing and to provide additional help. The law states that third graders may repeat third grade if they are more than one grade level behind beginning with the
2019-2020 school year.
Students identified with reading concerns have an individual reading improvement plan developed with staff and parents which includes intervention and support at school as well as a read-at-home plan.
More information about the Read by Grade Three law can be found in the video below and at THIS LINK.
Emergency Contact Information - Infinite Campus Parent Portal
It is extremely important to have up-to-date contact information available for each student. When emergencies arise, we need to be able to contact parents/guardians. This is also the contact information that is used for school closures and district updates.
Please log in to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal to check that your contact information is current and to make any necessary changes. If you need assistance or login information for the Parent Portal, please contact the Alamo office. Thank You!
