Martin Luther King Day at Nazareth
January 21, 2019 ~ A Day Long Series of Events
The Other America:"The Arc of the Moral Universe is Long, but it Bends Towards Justice.’” ~ Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dear Members of the Nazareth Community,
This year, Nazareth's Celebration of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. National Holiday will be centered around the theme: The Other America. This theme is from the title of a speech delivered by King on April 14, 1967 at Stanford University. In this speech, Dr. King addresses race, poverty and economic justice; his words, unfortunately, continue to be relevant in our world today. A full-length text of the speech can be found via a link below. It is our hope that this speech will be incorporated into classroom discussions throughout the first week of the semester.

Reflecting on King's words, the events, workshops and speakers will invite each of us to reflect on how we are called to actively create a community of genuine belonging on our campus, country and world. Please encourage your colleagues, students and friends to participate in the day's events.
