Learning Model Update for Secondary Families - Jan 31, 2021

Dear 622 Secondary Families,

I'm writing to provide you with an update regarding our learning model for secondary students. We are currently watching the decline in COVID-19 case numbers and are looking forward to bringing our secondary students back to school. According to guidance, local county COVID rates must be considered when planning for secondary students. Here is a link to MN County - Level COVID case rates.

In consultation with our Regional Support Team, we plan to bring 622 secondary students back to in-person learning on March 15, the start of third trimester.

Currently, the state still requires six-feet of social distancing between students in secondary schools. This means that our only option right now is to return to a hybrid model (half of the students at school at a time). With the density of our secondary schools, we cannot accommodate the social distancing requirements if all students returned full-time. We are hopeful that as vaccinations increase, we will be able to further increase in-person learning this Spring.

To help with our planning, please take a moment to respond to this survey and let us know if your secondary student will come back to school in the hybrid model (two days per week) or if they will remain in distance learning for trimester 3.

For our 12th grade families, please know that we are planning for an in-person graduation ceremony this year. Although details have not been determined at this point, I want to assure you that this is a top priority.

Thank you for your continued patience and support as we've navigated this time together.

Warm Regards,

Christine Tucci Osorio
Superintendent
