What's Happening at Whitt! 4/3/20
Once a wolf, always a wolf!
Principal email
Week 2! This week has been smoother and we're settling into a routine...even if its not our favorite routine, :) It's been hard...for us all.
Our hearts definitely weren’t trained for this. We know how to do our jobs when our students are at school with us every day. We know what is expected of us, for the most part. We have a clear picture of what it looks like to be a good educator when we are in our classrooms and in our schools.
Thank you for learning and living along with us as we figure it all out. You are more than welcome to email me with any questions or concerns.
Student Celebrations
We're so proud of all of their hard work and didn't want to miss an opportunity to celebrate them!
'20-'21 Student Scheduling Considerations
We're going to start looking ahead for next year and that starts with information from you!
Our goal at Whitt is for your child to receive an excellent education and to develop a positive relationship with his/her teacher. Scheduling decisions will be made by a committee consisting of administrators, teachers, and the counselor. Students who receive services such as speech, ESL, Alpha Phonics, GT, inclusion, or advanced academics will be placed with teachers whose classrooms provide these services.
Scheduling requests for 2019-20 must be made using the form below and must be received by April 17, 2020.
Wolf Howl!!
Jokes, Jimmy Johns, Sheriff's of the month and some sweet dance moves from Mrs. Power...you can't beat that!
Thank you, Wolves and parents, for your dedication to learning this week. We know it has its challenges, but our grit as a Wolf Family is unmatched!
Corona Check-In!
Nurse's Notes
What to do if you are sick...
Monitor your symptoms
- Common symptoms of COVID-19 include fever and cough. Trouble breathing is a more serious symptom that means you should get medical attention.
- If you are having trouble breathing, seek medical attention, but call first.
- Call your doctor or emergency room before going in and tell them your symptoms. They will tell you what to do.
- Wear a facemask: If available, put on a facemask before you enter the building. If you can’t put on a facemask, cover your coughs and sneezes. Try to stay at least 6 feet away from other people. This will help protect the people in the office or waiting room.
- Follow care instructions from your healthcare provider and local health department: Your local health authorities may give instructions on checking your symptoms and reporting information.
When to Seek Medical Attention
If you develop emergency warning signs for COVID-19 get medical attention immediately. Emergency warning signs include*:
- Trouble breathing
- Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
- New confusion or inability to arouse
- Bluish lips or face
*This list is not all inclusive. Please consult your medical provider for any other symptoms that are severe or concerning.
Call 911 if you have a medical emergency: If you have a medical emergency and need to call 911, notify the operator that you have or think you might have, COVID-19. If possible, put on a facemask before medical help arrives.

We miss our Wolves!!
Let’s take the #BoostEducatorsChallenge
We received this email from our Boosterthon team. I know many of you are sharing some celebrations but thought this would be a fun way to flood your timeline with #wearewhitt love.
Whitt families!
Hope you and your families are doing well.
I'm reaching out to invite you to take part in a fun new initiative Booster is
launching called the #BoostEducatorsChallenge. It's a social media movement
designed to encourage and uplift teachers and administrators across the country. As
you know, this is an incredibly stressful time for educators—having to move to online
learning, trying to navigate school closures, etc. So let's show Whitt educators some
love and appreciation!
Here's how to participate:
1. Post a short video of your family saying an encouraging message to your
student’s teachers or school administrators on social media using the hashtag
#BoostEducatorsChallenge
2. In your post, tag five friends with kids and challenge them to do the same for
their teachers!
3. Bonus! If you want, you can also tag the educator or the school in the post.
We would LOVE for you to take part in this amazing movement to support the Whitt
teachers and principals who pour so much into our kids. Would you be willing to
post a video sometime in the next few days?
Thanks so much,
-All Star Aaden Jones
P.S. In case you’re super busy, here’s some wording you can use in your social post:
As part of the #BoostEducatorsChallenge, our family wants to give a special shout out
to Teacher/Principal Name! We all know this is a stressful time to be an educator. So we
wanted to express our appreciation for Teacher/Principal Name because [insert specific
reason or example]!
I’m challenging [tag 5 friends with kids here] to keep the #BoostEducatorsChallenge
going by giving a shout out to your family’s favorite teacher or principal!
