What's going on with Teaching and Learning at MWE?
DRA, OS, and Math Assessments
Just a friendly reminder that your DRA and OS Assessment should be entered into Eduphoria by October 6th. Please also either give me your DRAs when you are finished so that I can make a copy of your students' FFI pages, or make a copy of each FFI page and bring to your next 3-week meeting. We will talk about how to use the FFI to plan small groups and inform instruction. I will also be giving you little cards for each of your students to put their BOY DRA level. These need to be finished in the charts in the office by 10/13. I will put the cards and an example in your box by the end of this week. For Kindergarten and First Grade only, your Kathy Richardson data is not due on Eduphoria until October 30th (only the first assessment).
3-Week Meetings
At your next 3-week meeting, we will discuss DRA/OS data and Math Assessment Data. Please bring your FFI sheets from your DRAs and your data sheets from your unit math assessments. Dates are 10/8 for 3rd-5th teachers and 10/15 for K-2nd teachers.
Read Across the Globe - October 19th from 10-10:30
This is a city-wide initiative organized by the Points of Light Foundation and the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation designed to set a new Guinness World Record for the most children read to within a 24-hour period (previous record is 238,000 children). All campuses will receive copies of the Read Across the Globe book selection, Farmer Will Allen and the Growing Table by Jacqueline Briggs Martin. A volunteer will read the story, and the event will be recorded with pictures and videos. There will also be witnesses coming to your classroom to document the number of classrooms and students participating.
John Samara's Visit
Please give personal feedback on John Samara's visit using the Google Form linked below. This is only for Marissa. https://docs.google.com/a/springbranchisd.com/forms/d/1un41L6CdlfjYkMJLb_XnvFk6GiZsl2jX_5x6Kq5YaFM/viewform?usp=send_form
Glow and Grow Observations
I just love visiting classrooms. I still can't get over how awesome all of you are! When I go to I Coach meetings, I hear so many people talking about issues they are having with teachers at their schools. And, I have to say, they are a little jealous of me because I am always bragging on all of you! My goal is to use this form to give you feedback when I visit your class. Please be assured that it is only for you and is not part of any type of evaluation or appraisal. Although, I do like to share "Glowing" information. :)
Teaching and Learning Curriculum Web Site
Check out the following link to see a web site for parents to see grade level curriculum and resources they can use. It is a work in progress, so if you have any ideas for what needs to be changed or information/resources we can add to the site, please don't hesitate to send them my way. I plan on giving parents a flyer with a QR code and link to the web site when they come for P/T conferences. It will also be linked to the regular MWE web site.
