PTA Spotlight: Ashley Gregory
Hi! My name is Ashley Gregory and I am serving as your Parliamentarian this year. I have been involved with the Greystone PTA for 5 years having served in the past as PTA President, Vice President of Leadership and Vice President of Student Programs. My current role as Parliamentarian is to be a resource for our PTA President and to ensure we are following the Greystone PTA bylaws. I will also serve on the nominating committee that helps assemble the next slate of officers for the PTA Executive Board.
My husband, Will, and I have three children. Our daughter is in the 4th grade here at Greystone and our twin boys have moved on to the 6th grade at Berry. We have loved being a part of the Greystone Elementary family and working with the PTA has been especially rewarding for me.
Soon you will receive a PTA interest form that offers insight into the service opportunities. I encourage you to fill it out and consider joining. One easy way to get plugged in is on the PTA Programs Committee. Their role is to simply attend meetings and fill in where help is needed.
The PTA offers parents a highly tangible way to positively affect our children’s education experience. I hope you will consider joining us!
Implementation of Erin's Law
Attention All Parents: To comply with Erin’s Law, HCS school counselors and administrators have created a plan to provide basic child sexual abuse prevention lessons for students. We have prepared a brief video that outlines plans for elementary, middle and high school levels. You will find more detailed information on HCS’s plan to implement Erin’s Law, including the option for your child to opt out of these lessons if you so choose. This information is also available in Spanish. Disclaimer: If you need alternate accommodations in accessing the video content, please contact Marley Stephens at mstephens@hoover.k12.al.us.
Attention All Responsible 4th Graders
Do you like volunteering for community service? Do you want to help keep the students at our school safe? Consider joining safety patrol!
We are searching for students who are interested in serving on our Safety Patrol Team for the spring semester. The first schedule will run from January 7-March 14, 2019. You should only apply for this position if you want to help keep Greystone safe and can commit to keeping up with this responsibility.
Morning patrols must be at their post by 7:15 a.m. Afternoon patrols should plan to be on duty until 3:05 p.m. Parents need to be sure their child will be at school by their designated time. We do not want patrols arriving late for their post or leaving early.
Being a part of safety patrol is a position of honor and leadership. We appreciate the work the patrols do and the time they give to the school. Safety patrol members must realize this is a commitment and they will be expected to be on post at their scheduled time.
Students who serve on the safety patrol team during the 3rd and 4th nine weeks will earn a special party before we get out for summer break.
If you would like to apply to be a part of safety patrol for the remainder of the year, please submit an application through the following website:

Applications are due December 17th!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Carns
