Family Focus
This year we are taking more of a family focused approach to homework. We believe that spending quality family time is vital in the success of your student. We will provide family friendly, engaging homework activities and assignments. We would love if you would send us pictures of these activities and share them with us.
This weeks Family focus: Discuss ways to be a good citizen, find a way that you can be a good citizen at your house, in your neighborhood or community. Take a picture and send it to your teacher!
Academics
Rule: Adding the –ed ending to a word can be tricky.
For many verbs, just add the ed.
If the verb ends in e, add the d.
If the verb ends in a y, drop the y and add ied.
If the verb ends with a consonant after a short vowel, double the consonant and add ed.
Reading: For the next two weeks we will be doing an author study on Kevin Henkes. We will be comparing the similarities and differences in his books.
ELA: We will be focusing on writing this week our topic will be things that my family does together in which students will practice writing a beginning, middle and end.
Math: Students will continue using strategies to solve addition and subtraction mentally up to 20 and counting coins up to 1.00.
Science: Students will observe and identify how magnets are used in everyday life.
Social Studies: Students will discuss and practice being a good citizen.
